What's in the VI Precision Plus Peel

The VI Peel Precision Plus contains Trichloroacetic Acid (TCA), Retinoic Acid, Salicylic Acid, Phenol, Vitamin C, and a mineral blend. There is also a lightening agent in this peel that contains hydroquinone to specifically target skin discoloration. Effective and safe for melasma.

What is the best time to get a VI Peel?

The best time to get a VI peel is when you are planning on being out of the sun for a while, and don’t have any important social gatherings. It is most common to get VI peels in the fall/winter months.

What are the benefits of VI Peel?

  • Reducing acne and surface acne scarring
  • Lightening and reducing sunspots and hyperpigmentation
  • Smoothing fine lines/wrinkles
  • Brightening the complexion
  • Preventing signs of aging

Are there any side effects of the VI Peel?

Although side effects are minimal with VI Peel, there is a potential for burning skin, itchiness, blistering, skin discoloration (hyperpigmentation), allergic reaction, and severe dryness. There is also a potential risk of scarring if you pick and peel the dry/sloughing skin while healing. It is important to hydrate the skin and avoid any skin picking.

Who is a poor candidate for the VI Peel?

Even though this chemical peel is safe for all skin types, people should avoid this treatment if they have the following:

  • Eczema
  • Psoriasis
  • Pregnant/breastfeeding women
  • Severe sun burn
  • Active rash or skin wounds
  • History of abnormal skin scarring

How do I prepare for a VI Peel?

Ensure you go to a provider that has had a consultation with you and understands your skin goals and is sure you are a candidate for the chemical peel.

  • It’s important to stay out of the sun 3-4 days prior to treatment and stop using active ingredients on your skin, such as retinol, harsh scrubs, and glycolic acid, 3-4 days prior to treatment.

Lastly, be sure you have the recommended “post-chemical peel” products to ensure you heal and get the best results possible.

Does the VI Peel hurt?

VI peels are comfortable for most clients because of the numbing agent in the solution. Most clients explain the VI peel “tolerable with mild tingling” compared to other chemical peels that have severe burning sensations.

What to expect during a VI Peel?

Your provider will go over after care instructions and ensure your questions/concerns are answered. Skin prep will begin with cleansing the skin and sterilizing with alcohol. Once the skin is prepared the solution mixture is then applied. The entire treatment lasts around 30 minutes.

What is the aftercare of a VI Peel?

Aftercare for VI Peel is relatively easy, but your provider will give you instructions to follow, specifically. However, it is important to have realistic expectations of peeling around days 4-5. Resist the urge to pick, peel, or rub the flaking skin as this can cause scarring. Apply SPF of 30 or greater multiple times a day and remain out of direct sunlight until skin is healed. Avoid using harsh skincare products such as scrubs, retinol, and acidsuntil skin is fully healed. Moisturize the dry skin often. Makeup can be applied, but most people let their skin be during the 5-7 days of flaking.

How long does it take to heal from VI Peel?

The healing process from a VI Peel varies from person to person and their specific skin conditions, but it is expected to have 5-7 days of “social downtime”. There is no pain involved in the healing process, but people tend to avoid getting this treatment around important events/dates.

How many days will I peel with the VI Peel?

As mentioned above, the peeling process for a VI Peel is different for each person due to their skin’s condition. Generally, you can expect the peeling to start 2 days after the chemical peel is applied, and will last for 2-3 days.

Is VI Peel safe for melasma?

Yes, the VI Peel is safe for melasma. To be exact, the VI Peel Precision Plus is clinically indicated for melasma and will not exasperate the melasma.

Can you see results after 1 VI Peel?

Yes, results are revealed about 1 week after your VI Chemical Peel. However, if you have a specific skincare concern, it may take several treatments to reach your desired results. Realistic expectations should be discussed with your provider prior to the treatment.

Why do I not have visible peeling after my VI Peel?

Even though you may not see visible peeling or shedding of the skin after your VI Peel, you are still getting the benefits of the treatment. Sometimes “well prepped skin” (i.e skin that has used retinols, exfoliants, has had multiple facials treatments) is already in great condition and there is less dead skin to be peeled away.

⭐️ All VI Peels come with post-treatment kits with the proper skincare products to use for the following 7-10 days.
